Knotting was a popular form of handwork from the 18th to early 19th centuries, and as the forerunner of tatting, done for the same reasons - to show off one's skillful hands, flash prized ornate shuttles, and generally compliment one's appearance. Vanity aside, knotting created a decorative cord that when appliquéd onto fabric in fanciful designs, embellished clothing or stood with embroidery in samplers. Our wooden shuttles measure approximately 5 1/2" long by 1 1/4" wide (larger than tatting shuttles) with flat oval ribs gently doming on the outside, to follow original designs. Please choose from one of the three types of wood below. KNOTTING SHUTTLE WOODS: #509-W, Wooden Knotting Shuttle | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
